Camp Coordination and Camp Management (cccm) Assistant at Norwegian Church Aid

Norwegian Church Aid ('NCA') is a member of the ACT Alliance and works with people and local actors, especially Faith-based actors in many countries where it works in their struggle to eradicate poverty and injustices. We provide humanitarian assistance in disasters and work for long-term development in local communities and societies. In order to address the root causes of poverty, we advocate for just decisions by public authorities, businesses and religious leaders.

NCA has a presence in Nigeria to respond to the Humanitarian crisis in Northeast Nigeria and also have humanitarian intervention in Cross River and Benue states. NCA has its core competencies in Gender-Based Violence and Water Sanitation and Hygiene. NCA has its strengths in works and invests in local partners ensures building their capacities are built from the onset of response, in order to enable them have the capacity to respond in a long-term intervention including recovery and development.

Implement CCCM activities as requested by the CCCM Advisor

  • Lead in making sure information management tools are updated regularly

  • Assisting in all aspects of the creation and monitoring of camp committees

  • Assisting in carrying out assessments and surveys within the site

  • Orienting incentivized labour hired from within the camp

  • Ensure timely and adequate registration of IDPs in camp, including identification of persons with specific needs in coordination with protection partners.

  • Spearheading outreach campaigns in the camp and ensuring that information is being properly conveyed and circulated to the camp community

  • Monitor status of population and highlighting trends with camp management team

  • Treat community members in a sensitive and humane manner

  • Assist in any other areas related with CCCM as may be requested by line manager

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Completion of university degree in database, humanities, social studies, or another relevant degree

  • Minimum one years of experience in international and/or local NGO; ideally involved in the direct implementation of field level humanitarian assistance to refugees or IDPs.

  • Experience in community services, women empowerment, youth activities, protection, distribution or registration

Preferred experience:

  • Proficiency in English and local language, both oral and written.

  • Preferable experience operating in a refugee/IDP camp environment.
